I completed a 12 week Summer internship at Newtown Savings Bank. As an Bank Operations Intern, I’ve supported multiple departments, including Deposit Operations, Electronic Banking, Digital Banking, the Customer Service Center, and Technology Operations; gaining a comprehensive view of banking operations and internal controls.
• Refined and updated risk assessments to align with evolving standards, improving consistency and reporting accuracy across teams.
• Oversaw daily reconciliation of financial transactions, ensuring timely resolution of high-value items while maintaining compliance with internal protocols.
• Managed and resolved flagged transaction items on a daily basis, addressing issues such as account discrepancies and processing errors with attention to detail.
• Proactively initiated conversations with senior leaders to gain strategic insights, mentorship, and a deeper understanding of organizational decision-making.
• Reviewed and distributed comprehensive cash management self-assessments, supporting risk mitigation and compliance across key operational areas. Ensured alignment with updated standards and contributed to audit readiness and strategic oversight
• Attended a variety of internal and external meetings, including team meetings, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) sessions, Compliance Committee meetings, professional development trainings, vendor-led discussions on online banking features, Deposit Product strategy meetings, and department shadowing sessions to broaden operational knowledge and contribute to cross-functional collaboration
