Wealth Management Summer Analyst

Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks)

I supported three advisors and their teams, serving 200+ corporate executives with assets totaling over $5 billion. I was assigned tasks depending on the needs of the advisor, but generally included preparing for client meetings, tax projections, performance reports, ensuring continuity between internal systems, and more.

Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished)

A few examples of projects include but are not limited to:

  • I prepared for client meetings by preparing agendas, generating exhibits of a client’s current financial picture, completing income tax projections in Bloomberg’s BNA, and doing performance reports on client accounts.
  • I backfilled and confirmed 1000+ tax payment estimates and extensions within the company’s internal tax center.
  • I ensured beneficiary continuity between systems, filing beneficiary change forms for 100+ IRAs, annuities, and life policies.
  • I completed several TACS transitional analyses for clients looking to transfer assets into Goldman Sach’s tax advantaged strategic funds.

What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses)

I learned about different investment vehicles, managing numerous types of client accounts and allocating assets accordingly to achieve their goals. I learned about estate planning strategies to pass down assets in a tax-efficient manner, all while avoiding probate. I learned directly how to interact with clients and manage professional relationships in a competitive industry. I learned how macroeconomic, geopolitical, and other events can impact different financial markets and a client’s financial position. I reinforced all I’ve learned about finance, markets, accounting, and economics through over 100 hours of firm sponsored training between Financial Edge, Training The Street, and Goldman University.
