Omega Beta Sigma Women’s Business Honor Society
Omega Beta Sigma (OBS), the Women’s Business Honor Society at the University of Scranton, recognizes outstanding female students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to the University’s mission. Candidates are selected based on rigorous criteria, including maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA, showing genuine interest in business affairs, and upholding the values that support a successful future in the business world. As a distinguished honor society on campus, OBS provides members with opportunities to deepen their professional development while contributing meaningfully to the University and the broader community.
Members of OBS actively participate in projects and events designed to serve others and highlight the unique experiences and needs of women in business today. The society has a strong history of engagement, hosting activities that bring together students and representatives from major corporations, as well as organizing volunteer efforts such as the annual project supporting families through Lackawanna County’s Women’s Resource Center. Membership involves both participation and leadership, as students help plan and execute service initiatives throughout the year. At the spring Awards Luncheon, first-year members in good standing receive formal membership certificates, while graduating seniors are honored with OBS cords for commencement. The society also recognizes exceptional academic achievement by awarding a plaque to the senior member with the highest GPA, underscoring its dedication to excellence and empowerment.
